Decks and landing pages
A startup logo has to work before the product looks finished
The first audiences are a small one: an investor on slide one, a stranger on a landing page, a teammate in Slack. They need to read the name and remember a shape. Ornament does not help that job. A complicated crest, a long tagline locked into the drawing, or a trend from this month will date the company before the product does.
A practical startup logo is a wordmark you can drop on a dark slide and a symbol you can use as the avatar. It should look credible in a bare layout, because the layout will be bare. IconCreator is built for that stage: a name, a short brief, a style, and a set of directions you can put in the deck this week.
Generating options is not a trademark filing. Before you print the name on anything expensive, someone qualified should check whether you can own it. The logo tool cannot do that search for you.
- 01
Optimize for slide one
The name has to be readable from the back of a room and in a thumbnail of the deck. High contrast, plain type, one symbol. If it only looks good inside a brand board full of mockups, it is not ready.
- 02
Own a shape
A distinctive silhouette is easier to protect and easier to spot in a row of startups than a decorative word with a stock icon beside it. Simple is not the same as generic.
- 03
Use it in the real templates
Put the finalists in the landing page header, the pitch deck, and the social avatar before you decide. Context reveals tracking problems and symbols that are too thin.
- 04
Leave clearance for later
Pick a mark you can commit to, then do the legal search. Exploring directions is the cheap part. Rebranding after a conflict is the expensive part.

Where the logo will actually appear
Design for these surfaces. The brand film can wait.
Pitch deck
Cover slide and a small version in the corner of later slides. It must work on a dark background.
Landing page
Header wordmark, and a symbol if the header is tight. The hero does not need a giant 3D version of the logo.
Product
If there is an app or a logged-in UI, the symbol becomes the icon. Test that reduction before you fall in love with a thin wordmark.
Email and social
A square avatar and a signature. These are crops of the symbol, not a second design.
Startup logo questions
How polished does a startup logo need to be?
Clear and ownable beats ornate. Investors and users care more about clarity than decorative flourishes on day one.
Can I trademark an AI-generated startup logo?
Possibly — after clearance search and counsel. AI exploration does not replace legal review.
Should startups buy templates instead?
Templates are often reused across thousands of shops. Generating from your brief reduces lookalike risk.
What should I export first?
SVG for the website header and a transparent PNG for decks and social avatars.
