Apple applies the final icon enclosure through the system. Artwork that already contains transparent rounded corners can appear overly padded or double-rounded after system processing. The checker can estimate whether your source contains a baked rounded boundary and show the likely result.
A flattened asset catalog uses raster app-icon artwork inside Xcode. Icon Composer uses a multilayer icon file and gives you additional control over materials, platform presentation and appearance modes. This tool can prepare and check flattened artwork. Complete layered-icon creation must be finished in Apple’s Icon Composer and Xcode.
Use a high-quality square master. A 1024×1024 source is the standard master size for App Store and Xcode app-icon workflows.
