Simulated placement — not a pixel-perfect OS screenshot.

Why preview your icon?

  • Large artwork hides small-size problems

A mark that looks sharp at 1024 px can collapse at 16–32 px on toolbars and notifications.

  • Platform masks crop differently

Circle, squircle and teardrop masks can clip corners and outer details that look fine as a square.

  • Dark backgrounds change contrast

Icons that pop on a light mockup can disappear on dark wallpapers or tinted appearances.

  • Store placement changes prominence

Search results and listing headers show your icon next to ratings, text and competitors—not alone.

  • Comparing concepts beats standalone squares

Seeing A/B/C in the same home screen or store row makes the stronger design obvious faster.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Upload one or more icons

Add up to four concepts. Everything stays on your device.

  2. Step 2

    Choose platforms and environments

Switch home screens, stores, masks, browsers and wallpapers.

  3. Step 3

    Compare variations

Use side-by-side, rapid switch or blind labels to evaluate designs.

  4. Step 4

Export mockups or create a stronger icon

Download comparison boards, or open IconCreator when the design needs a rewrite.

What this tool cannot verify

Previews are visual estimates. They do not guarantee:

  • App Store approval
  • Google Play approval
  • Trademark safety
  • User conversion performance
  • Correct adaptive-icon resource configuration

Your icons stay private

Previews render locally in your browser. Uploaded artwork is not sent to IconCreator servers, stored in an account or used to train image-generation models.

Frequently asked questions

How do I preview an app icon on iPhone?+

Upload your icon, open the Home screens tab and choose the iPhone preview. Switch wallpapers, dock or folder positions, and light, dark or tinted appearance simulations.

Can I compare multiple app icons?+

Yes. Upload up to four concepts (A–D). Use the Compare tab for side-by-side, rapid-switch or blind comparison modes.

How will my icon look on Android?+

The Android home-screen preview applies common launcher masks—circle, squircle, rounded square, teardrop and full square—against light, dark and colorful wallpapers.

How do I test an icon at 16 pixels?+

Open Small sizes to see true-pixel renders at 128, 64, 48, 32, 24 and 16 px. Previews are not scaled up to the same visual size.

Does the previewer upload my icon?+

No. Analysis and mockups run in your browser. Files are not uploaded, stored or used for training.

Can I download the preview mockups?+

Yes. Export a comparison board PNG or a small-size strip. More mockup exports can be added later; MVP focuses on comparison and size strips.

What is an Android adaptive icon mask?+

Launchers clip adaptive icons with different shapes. A full adaptive icon also needs separate foreground and background layers—use the Adaptive Icon Checker for that workflow.

How can I test an icon in dark mode?+

Choose a dark wallpaper and, on iPhone, try the dark or tinted appearance simulation. These are approximations, not Apple’s or Google’s exact rendering pipelines.
