Export more than a folder of resized images

Different platforms use icons in different contexts. A Google Play listing icon is not the same asset as an Android adaptive launcher icon. Chrome extension icons must remain recognizable at 16 pixels. PWA maskable icons need sufficient safe space for several possible shapes.

Platform packages

Apple and Xcode icons

Generate a high-resolution Apple master icon and an Xcode-ready asset-catalog package. Preview smaller rendered sizes and identify source images that may appear soft after export. Layered Apple icon appearances require Apple’s dedicated development tools and cannot be created from a single flattened image alone.

Google Play icon

Generate a 512 × 512 PNG for your Google Play store listing. Check the output size, file weight, background coverage and whether the artwork already contains rounded corners or an external shadow.

Android launcher icons

Generate conventional density-specific Android launcher resources inside organized mipmap folders. Modern Android adaptive icons require separate foreground and background layers. Use the Android Adaptive Icon Checker when you need a complete adaptive package.

Chrome extension icons

Generate 16, 32, 48 and 128 pixel Chrome extension icons together with a ready-to-copy manifest configuration. Inspect the actual 16 pixel result before downloading to make sure the symbol remains recognizable.

PWA icons

Generate standard and maskable PWA icons in common installation sizes. Preview circular, rounded-square, squircle and teardrop masks and keep important artwork inside the safe area.

How the resizing works

  1. Step 1

    Decode the original once

Your master image stays in memory. Every size is rendered from that source—not from a previously shrunk file.

  2. Step 2

    Apply platform-aware fit

Fill, fit or custom positioning can differ per package, with background and padding controls.

  3. Step 3

    Preview before download

Inspect actual-size outputs on light, dark and transparent backgrounds and review quality warnings.

  4. Step 4

    Download project-ready ZIPs

Get named folders, configuration snippets and README notes for each selected platform.

Your icon stays private

All supported resizing and packaging happens locally in your browser. Your source icon and generated files are not uploaded, stored or used to train image-generation models.

Resizing cannot repair every design problem

The tool can change dimensions, format, padding, position and background. It cannot reliably repair:

  • A low-resolution original
  • A symbol with excessive detail
  • Baked rounded corners
  • Weak small-size readability
  • Missing adaptive-icon layers
  • An icon that is visually too similar to competitors

Common resizing problems

How to resize an app icon

Upload a square master at 1024 × 1024 or larger, choose platforms, pick Fill or Fit, preview outputs and download ZIP packages.

Generate iOS app icon sizes

Select Apple / Xcode to export a 1024 master, AppIcon.appiconset and common preview sizes.

Generate Android launcher icons

Export density-specific mipmap PNGs for conventional launcher use, then open the Adaptive Icon Checker for layered adaptive assets.

Generate Chrome extension icons

Export 16, 32, 48 and 128 px icons with optional Web Store padding inside the 128 canvas, plus a manifest snippet.

Resize icon to 512 × 512

Google Play listing icons need an exact 512 × 512 PNG under 1024 KB. Use the Google Play package with a full-bleed background.

Resize icon to 1024 × 1024

Apple flattened masters are typically 1024 × 1024. Upscaling a smaller source is allowed but may look soft.

App icon blurry after resizing

Blurriness usually comes from upscaling a low-resolution original or excessive detail at tiny sizes. Start from a sharp 1024+ source and simplify small marks.

Xcode app icon asset catalog

The Apple package includes AppIcon.appiconset with Contents.json for the flattened marketing-size configuration supported by this tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is the App Icon Resizer free?+

Yes. You can resize, preview and download supported icon packages without creating an account.

Are my icon files uploaded?+

No. Supported image processing and ZIP generation happen locally in your browser.

What source size should I use?+

A square source at 1024 × 1024 pixels or larger is recommended. Smaller files can be resized, but enlarging them may create soft or blurry results.

Can the tool generate an Android adaptive icon?+

A complete adaptive icon requires separate foreground and background layers. A flattened image can generate conventional launcher files but cannot reproduce genuine adaptive behavior.

Can I create an Xcode app-icon package?+

Yes. The Apple export can include an AppIcon.appiconset folder and its required metadata for the configuration supported by the tool.

Why does the 16 pixel icon look different?+

Fine details, thin lines and small text can disappear during downscaling. Inspect the actual-size preview and simplify the source artwork when necessary.

Can I download only one platform?+

Yes. Select one platform package or download individual generated files.

Does exporting guarantee app-store approval?+

No. The tool prepares image files. Final approval can also depend on project configuration, metadata, policies, intellectual property and the rest of the submitted application.
