How to Change the Favicon (Browser Icon) in Squarespace
Short answer
Squarespace calls the favicon a browser icon. Upload a square PNG between 100 and 300 px, under 100 KB, and save. ICO files and multi-size favicons aren't supported. New sites show a default cube until you replace it.
Checked against Squarespace: Add a favicon or browser icon and Google: Favicon in Search in October 2026.

Squarespace favicon not updating: fixes
| You see | Why | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Still the cube or the old icon | Browsers hold on to cached favicons | Clear the cache or use a private window |
| Upload fails | File over 100 KB, or an ICO | Export a smaller PNG |
| Old icon in Google | Google hasn't recrawled | Wait; use a size that's a multiple of 48 |
| Blurry icon | Image too small or detailed | Use a simple mark at 192 or 300 px |
